Empowering Women is one of the most comprehensive women's self-defence programs ever produced. Based on teachings from Tibetan Kung Fu, Okinawan Karate and Brazilian Jiujitsu, that have been tested and perfected over a century. This course covers the most common and dangerous threats against women. It covers both the psychological and physical aspects of self-defence, including, but not limited to, how to defend against someone trying to subdue you, pin you to the ground, control you with hair grabs, or use a weapon to carry out an assault.
Although no experience is necessary to get started, by the time you complete the program your self-defence reflexes will be rock solid, and you will leave feeling strong, confident and empowered.
Welcome to the Empowering Women, one of the most comprehensive Self-defence programs created for women. Self-defence begins with the belief that you are worth defending, so congratulations on taking the first step.
This course includes techniques derived from Tibetan Kung Fu, Okinawan Karate and Brazilian Jujitsu and is specifically designed to empower the weak against the strong. With over twenty years’ experience and research, this course will allow you with proper technique to overcome size and strength, as majority of the techniques in this course have been adopted or adapted into military and law enforcement.
Based on law enforcement reports and Feedback from sole survivors, Empowering Women is lessons focused on the most common and most dangerous scenarios facing women. Even though the physical techniques have been tested and refined, its’s the focus on the verbal and psychological aspects of this course that truly set it apart from others.
Throughout the course, you will learn a multitude of essential techniques, and behind every technique is a Dragon Martial Arts Academy guiding principal. One of our main goals is to build your muscle memory in the application of these principals, so you can modify any of these techniques in the heat of battle, as no two attack situations are exactly the same.
During this course, we will always assume that the attacker is bigger, heavier and stronger than we are. For this reason, we rely exclusively on techniques that are based on leverage, timing and energy efficiency as opposed to strength, speed and athleticism. During the course you will be shown techniques that we consider to be highly effective and reliable, however this does not mean that anything you have done different in the past is wrong, when it comes to self-defence there is no right or wrong. In any situation you will do what you can with the tools you have to survive. In the end, that is all that matters
As a woman it is important to understand that it is not your responsibility to prevent an assault, and under no circumstance does the blame of an attack ever fall on the survivor. Women should be able to live freely, dress as they please and drink whatever they like. In a perfect world, offenders would acknowledge boundaries, understand consent, and respect women. However, until that happens, we encourage you to invest into your personal safety, and reduce your risk of experiencing violence.
If you are a past survivor, we understand that some of the techniques and discussions in this program may trigger a lot of emotions from past incidents, above all we commend your strength and willingness to follow this path to self-empowerment. Now there will be times when this course can seem challenging at times, we hope that it will provide you strength and confidence, when you need it most. During the course, there will be times when we will be joking and laughing together as we learn these techniques, this is done because we believe information is absorbed better when we are enjoying ourselves and having a good time.
This does not mean we are undermining the seriousness of Women's self-defence or here to tell you what to do or what to wear, we are merely offering you empowerment via knowledge and a skillset, you can apply to all life situations. From feeling safe in your day-to-day activities, to dealing with an inappropriate person all the way to defending yourself from an attack in a life-or-death situation.
Ultimately, the effectiveness of this course is not measured in the number of fights that are won, but the number of fights that are avoided, through heightened awareness, elevated confidence and boundary setting.
